Typography research
Today we are looking for different typographies to see which one reflects our genre for our film opening. One of the titles we saw was 'P.s I love you', this one uses the colour red to illustrate a romantic comedy genre and love. The fact that it is in a girly italic font symbolises that it's from a woman's point of view.

The 'Funny Face' title consists of a big, bold font with a contrast of black and white. The effect of this is that it stands out to the audience and represents the contrast between Audrey Hepburn and the man, an example of this is the colour black for the word 'Funny' which represents Audrey's child-like behavior. Whereas the man corresponds with the word 'Face' which symbolises maturity and vulnerability to love.

location and cast members
http://goo.gl/maps/BzVQF
I decided to choose this location as I think it would be a lovely place to emphasise the protagonist's loneliness, especially when she is eating by herself in the restaurant.
For my cast I was thinking about casting:
Georgia Spencer
Anima Mart
Kiana Lanjani
and a few others, I am still considering.

post it notes
Using sticky notes helped me visualise my film opening clearly as I jotted down my ideas and clearly identified how long each title will be up on the screen for. Drawing doodles also helped me decide what I want happening in the scene when the titles pop up.

Film opening ideas
Horror:
Looking on you tube, I decided to consider doing a film opening on a group of friends who create memories. Suddenly a dramatic event happens and the group of friends meet a mysterious teenage outsider who can draw the future to warn them something horrific is about to happen.
Or I was thinking about doing an opening about a boarding school where supernatural events could occur.
Romantic comedy:
I was thinking of starting the opening with a flashback with a narrative voice over before this person ended up in a sticky situation.
Parallel editing would be used at the beginning to introduce the protagonists.
Or maybe a geeky girl gets a makeover and something humorous occurs to make her look bad in front of her date. Her friends help her meet a man online and the first few times it doesn't work out but as she's about to give up, she meets her soul mate and it turns out that he is just as clumsy.

Titles in Sorority row
Sorority row-
- First title appears advertising the company which is in the top left corner in a capital font in white.
- The name of the production is in the bottom right in a white colour in capitals, this contrasts with what seems to be a deserted dark house filmed in the background.
- The title of the film is also in white and in capitals, it is centred in the middle for 5 seconds. The background shows girls having a pillow fight at a party which creates a jolly atmosphere.
- The name of the first character appears in the bottom right corner with the same font and colour.
- The second character's name come into sight in the bottom left, in the background a girl is getting drawn on her stomach by her friends.
- The third character's becomes visible in the bottom right corner and the fourth name is shown in the bottom left corner when a group of girls dance together.
- The fifth and sixth name is visible on the bottom right as we see a guy trying to get a beer but another guy is blocking him.
- The seventh name appears at the bottom left as we see the same guy get a drink from another friend.
- The eighth name is at the bottom right as a girl throws her drink at the guy.
- The ninth, tenth and eleventh names appear in the bottom left where the camera films through a corridor to a room of people dancing.
- The music supervisor/ person, costume designer, editor, production designer, director of photography, executive producer, producer, based on the 'seven sisters' play, screenplay and the name of the director all build up to the scene where we see the main group of friends who are the focus of the film. These titles all last 5 seconds each with the same font style and colour (white)
Final film idea- Todorov's theory
Todorov's theory explains a movie layout in three steps-
Equilibrium- My idea is to do a horror/ mystery genre based on the movie & tv show: Sorority row and Pretty little liars. I thought it would be a good idea to start the opening with the camera filming from the main protagonist's perspective as we see the first name on the door, she opens it after 3 seconds and walks upstairs relatively slowly. On a few stairs in the middle will be a couple names and the name of the movie will appear on the door before she enters the room. A party is happening with booming music and one of the friend's have a small dialect with her but they then return to the party.
Disequilibrium- one of the girl's are missing and the group of friend's find a note leading to a trail of clues. During their hunt, they meet a stranger who knows something but doesn't tell the girls. He offers to help anyway as they experience very extraordinary events. Later the girls find out this stranger is chasing the missing girl so they try to escape.
Equilibrium- the girls find the main protagonist and attempt to bring her back home, they get the police involved before the stranger gets to the girl and he runs away. (Cliff hanger)
Location- deserted restaurant in the country side with a forest behind it.
